     Assignment 1: Bouncing Ball

Hello blog! This is my bouncing ball video in which I chose to depict the ball as a disco ball and the "objects"/obstacles as cats. I wanted to make something a little bit funny and light-hearted for my first assignment in this class. Navigating through Harmony felt a little bit daunting at first, but I definitely like it a little bit more than I like Flash 🙀🙀

My friend Talia has three cats (Clancy, TinTin, and Jordon) that may have inspired these cat characters :^)

Assignment 1: Blog and First Day Attendance

HELLO!! My name is Alex and I'm a second year Studio Art Major concentrating in animation! I'm currently working as an illustrator for the USF Student Government and am also an intern at the Centre Gallery this semester. I also have three pet rats that I love very much (see photo).

I've been playing around with animation on and off for a hot minute but I've only recently started to learn the fundamentals and principles of animation in college. My first introduction to animation was probably Flipnote Studio on the Nintendo DSi (I was around 9/10 years old and me and my brother would make short "animated" videos, usually with Sonic characters).
Currently, I enjoy making video art and shorts; I've recently been really into participating in this bi-annual, non-curated experimental animation show called Hellavision Television! Community-driven independent animation and video art has such a special place in my brain and heart.

I've played around with Flash and Blender but usually animate in Photoshop and comp everything in After Effects; I'm really excited to delve into Harmony and really hope my laptop can run it without exploding!

In this class, I hope to develop a solid grasp on animating in Harmony. I want to make challenging work that I'm proud of and I hope to grow as both an animator and as a student in this course!
